Update log - code blur

On this page I will try to record all user-facing updates to the site on an ongoing basis, so that there is a log even when an update is not significant enough to merit a blog post.

(At some point I’ll go back and put earlier updates in)

2025

December

  • Shared cM tool: Add French translation
  • Chromosome maps: fix a long-standing bug that had passed me by that meant that overlapping segments ignored the fuzzy threshold, meaning the site would suggest possible overlaps where really the overap was so small as to be meaningless.
  • Shared cM Project Tool: stylesheet tweak to stop the grid breaking on screenwidths from 767 to 940px
  • Settings and forgot password page accessibility improvement: update so there’s a show passwords toggle

November

  • WATO bug fix: correct an issue where hypotheses might not be suggested due to a logic error in code to check age feasibility
  • Shared cM Project Tool: adjust the layout, moving ‘how to read this chart’ to the right to prevent the layout moving around

October

  • WATO plus bug fix: handle zero cM values properly
  • Matrix tool update: adjust shading in the default DNA shared view so that it’s based on the maximum cM value entered rather than 3,600 as previously.
    • This means even matrices that contain only smaller matches will still have shading
  • Matrix tool update: Add subtle underline to names in the left column so it’s clear they are links

August

  • WATO update: adjust code to strip out spaces before generating shortened names (to avoid blank names in shared version)
  • Shared cM tool update: launch German version with logic to name removed relationships differently based on older or newer generation
  • Matrix tool update: sorting, half matrix, improved charts
  • WATO and Ancestral Trees update: add notice letting people they need to unzip a zip file before uploading
