It feels very strange to be writing this preview of RootsTech 2023 because it doesn’t seem real or possible that 3 years can have passed since I last attended in person. Time has truly warped…
In February 2020 I arrived in Salt Lake City full of optimism, but I think I was running on empty. After the euphoria of meeting up with friends, and in particular with the DNA Painter User Group moderators, I became very ill and spent most of the conference as a shivering shadow-like person.
Here’s to that not happening this year! In this short post I’ll sum up events related to DNA Painter at the 2023 event.
Lectures
I’m giving two lectures. Both are on Friday March 3rd and are being streamed live. You click on the links below to confirm what time they’re happening at in your part of the world.
- How third-party DNA tools can help with your family history research
- Aspects of adoption (with Penny Walters and Marie Cappart)
On Thursday March 2nd, Patricia Coleman is also giving an in-person lecture entitled Putting All the Pieces Together: DNA and Irish Online Resources. Patricia is a moderator of the DNA Painter User Group on Facebook.
Expo hall booth
DNA Painter will be exhibiting in Salt Lake City only and not in the virtual Expo Hall (this is because exhibiting was a bit of a last minute decision). If you’re coming to Salt Lake City, I hope you’ll come by and say hello at booth 127.
To reach the booth, veer to the left when you enter the Expo Hall. We are towards the back near the food area. We’re also pretty close to Borland Genetics.
Booth hours
- Thursday March 2nd 9am-6pm
- Friday March 3rd 9am-6pm
- Saturday March 4th 9-3pm
RootsTech 2022
I’ve made a YouTube playlist with the DNA Painter videos from our virtual booth at RootsTech 2022.
That’s it!
If you’re coming, I hope I’ll see you in Salt Lake City. Otherwise I hope you can tune in to my presentations at rootstech.org.
